VLP’s major internal success has made it a strong candidate for commercial offering to VMware’s customers, for its unique ability to scale on-demand, leveraging VMware’s robust cloud environment.

My Challenge
My Role
In spite of being successful internally, with the current product experience, VLP product team were not able to covert product trials into sales outside VMware. Competitor products from other companies were the major players in the market. VLP being a strong contender from VMware was always compared to these consumer-centric products.
Challenge of this project was to convert a feature-rich, flexible, technical product into consumer-facing, highly intuitive and commercial product.
VLP was built from a perspective of serving VMware's internal technical audience. I was onboarded in the team to improve the experience of the product and make it market-ready.
We were a small team including 2 members from the design team along with the Product Owners, Solution Architects and a Dev Lead from the technical side. The task was to find out the improvement areas in VLP and design a user experience which would drive product sale and also aid in further innovation.
